How can I prevent the spread of my athlete's foot?

Athlete's foot fungus can go from one part of the body to another, such as from the foot to the groin or from the toenail to the foot. It's possible for these fungi to transmit from person to person. You can take the following actions to stop athlete's foot from spreading:

• Use an antifungal medicine to treat your affected skin
• Wear cotton socks and "breathable" footwear
• Wash your hands after touching the affected area until the infection completely goes away
• Keep your feet dry and clean because fungi like warm, moist environments
• Don't share or reuse towels, shoes, socks, or other items that could be contaminated.

Is it possible to treat nail fungus using Optum Clinic?

Oral antifungal drugs typically work better on nails, and topical treatments like antifungal creams can occasionally treat toenail and fingernail fungus. Because oral antifungal require additional lab testing to monitor liver function, they are currently not available through Optum Clinic.

Can I pay for a visit or prescription drugs with my health insurance?

At this time, Optum Clinic does not accept health insurance for visits. Although we cannot promise it, you can make a claim to your insurance company for compensation. If you typically pay for your prescription drugs with insurance, you can do the same with those that are prescribed by Optum Clinic.
