Getting started

Can I use Optum Clinic?

If you're an adult living in the United States and between the ages of 18 and 64, you can use Optum Clinic. Currently, Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries as well as other government payor programs are not eligible to use Optum Clinic.

Visits

How will I get a prescription if one is offered?

Any prescription you fill will be electronically sent by your clinician to the pharmacy of your choosing. That is all there is to it.

Is it possible to send my prescription to a nearby pharmacy?

Yes. Your prescription will be sent to any pharmacy of your choosing by your clinician.

Can I receive medical care if I'm visiting another nation temporarily?

No, Optum Clinic is exclusive to United States.

My photo ID is needed, but why?

We need to confirm a picture of your ID in order to confirm your identification.

How can I comment on my experience using the Optum Clinic?

We value your opinions. Please call (888) 853-5216 to speak with Optum Clinic Customer Care about your experience with them.

Can I take my blood pressure at home if my intake form requests one?

You can include your blood pressure reading in your intake form if you have a blood pressure cuff or another tool for measuring it.

Visits with only messages

How does a message-only visit work?

There is no need for a video call or live chat—complete an intake form. You might occasionally need to upload a few images of the area. After reviewing your records, a licensed U.S. clinician will send you a treatment plan that may include behavioral advice and medication.

Costs, payments, and insurance

Which forms of payment are accepted by you?

The Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), and major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, etc.) are all accepted at Optum Clinic.

If my payment method is rejected, what should I do?

We'll send you an email or text with details on how to change your payment method if your original payment method was rejected.

When will my payment method be charged by you?

Just like visiting a walk in clinic, your payment method will be deducted at time of service. Prescriptions, directions to use over-the-counter medications, or recommendations to see a doctor in person are all examples of treatments.

We can't promise your insurance company will reimburse you, but you can still file a claim.

Can I pay for my prescription meds with insurance?

If you typically pay for your prescription drugs with insurance, you can do the same with those that are prescribed by Optum Clinic. Please discuss insurance coverage directly with your pharmacist. The price of your appointment does not cover the cost of your prescription.

Will my health insurance company require a prior authorization before I can fill a prescription?

The rules for prior permission are set by your health insurance company. To find out if your insurance covers your recommended medication, speak with your pharmacy or health insurance company.

Have you had a change in health insurance and would like to know what your options are for reasonably priced coverage?
