Frequently Asked Questions

What adverse effects is bimatoprost (Latisse) likely to cause?

Itching and redness are the most frequent side effects of bimatoprost eyelash growth serum, occurring in about 4% of participants enrolled in research trials. Bimatoprost may have a negligible (less than 4% probability) of permanently darkening the colored iris in your light-hued eyes. Additionally, there's a slim possibility that bimatoprost will darken your eyelids; this could be reversed. If you take the drug as prescribed, you can lower this risk. Keep this medication away from your eyes and lower lash line.

Does insurance cover bimatoprost?

Most likely not. The majority of insurance policies do not pay for eyelash serum called bimatoprost.

What is the price of bimatoprost?

With a prescription discount card, a 3mL vial of bimatoprost may cost between $30 and $60 generically. (Note that there is no assurance on pricing.) When the serum is used as prescribed, a 3mL container has roughly 70 applicators and lasts for approximately a month. Twice as many applicators are contained in a 5mL bottle. There needs to be an applicator for each eye. Applicators are single-use only.

Are the results of taking bimatoprost long-lasting?

In a few weeks or months, when you stop taking bimatoprost, the growth serum's effects will disappear and your lashes will revert to their prior state.

Can I wear contact lenses when taking bimatoprost?

Yes. However, you must take out your contact lenses before applying bimatoprost to your upper eyelid. It is advised by clinicians that you wait fifteen minutes after applying bimatoprost before wearing your contacts.

Does Latisse work on eyebrows?

Yes. The active component of Latisse, bimatoprost, appears to be a safe and efficient treatment for brow hair loss, according to certain clinical studies.

Can I pay for a visit or prescription drugs with my health insurance?

At this time, Optum Clinic Clinic does not accept health insurance for visits. You can submit a claim to your insurance provider for reimbursement, but we can’t guarantee they’ll reimburse you. If you typically pay for your prescription drugs with insurance, you can do the same with those that are prescribed by Optum Clinic. The cost of medication isn’t included in the cost of your visit.

How does Optum Clinic protect my health information?
